Startled that a tree could talk the man gathered up his thoughts and simply said,
“Yes,”
“Then let me sing you my song” , said the tree.
The man stood for a moment and before he knew it the tree had begun to sing.
It sung such a song that tears rolled down the mans face,
Everything that ever was, was in the song.
The melody embraced the man and took hold of him, he became embraced into the very womb of the tree.
The tree knew everything and through the tree's eyes, the man could see the passing of time and yet the tree still stood there, unwavering and strong.
The tree was the beginning and the breath of life, it gave generously, without pause.
It sang and sang until no longer could the man bare it. He dropped his axe and flung his arms around the tree and shouted,
“Oh mother forgive me, I forgot who I was,I am the son with no memory for the mother I have,
Forgive me” .
“Well then son, now that you have remembered you must do one thing for me”,
“Yes Mother, what will it be”.
“Sing your song , loud and strong for your brothers and sisters have forgotten who they come from. When they hear their mother they too will drop their axes and come home”.
Will you too drop your axe?
